Landless is an on-going work that addresses issues surrounding private land ownership and access to land in Ireland. In this country, the freedom to roam exists only in National Parks, which encompass merely one percent of the country.
Those who wish to access the countryside have no rights of access, rights to stay, or rights of way, except on public roads. Many of the trails and paths used today are permissible paths, granted at the discretion of landowners, and these permissions can be revoked at any time.
The connection between history, heritage, and land runs deep, with many of us identifying as coming from or being of a place. Landless explores what it means to be denied access to land, when others can own a mountain.
